I’m closing in on the end of my first draft of the book. I’m at about 65,000 words of what I’m planning to be an 80,000 to 85,000 word novel.

You know what that means?

That’s right. It’s time to prematurely start making my list of dream agents and publishers.

I could be spending my time finishing that last 15,000 words or so, but no. No. I think I need to start making the list. THAT would be the best use of my time.

Actually, the first couple of agents I plan on sending it to were ones that were highly complimentary of my first novel when it made the rounds. That’s the logical place to start, I think. There’s also a couple more that I’ve had some contact with over the past few years that said they’d like to read my work. Again, that would be a no-brainer, right? So, technically, the list is already started. That was easy!

Maybe if I find the right agent, they won’t even make me finish the book, right? Right?

Worth a shot! I’m off to stare longingly at agent profiles!
