OK. I get it! I need to get to work on the book, or at the very least, tell you how it’s going. Fine. After a busy summer, I’m finally back to a decent writing schedule. For a few weeks I was dividing my time between a few poems, a short story, editing some of the old book and writing the new one, but now I see I need to focus on one at a time or none of them will get done.

So I got to work on the new book and I’m glad to say I just hit the 41% mark with just over 35,000 words. I’m really happy with it and I’m looking forward to that halfway point.
I have the story all plotted in my mind, but as I hit the 40% mark I started freaking out as to whether I really had enough story left to make it another 50k. I have to be honest, I’m not sure I do. I realize I can make the book shorter, but I understand that 80-85k is probably the minimum for an Urban Fantasy book. A writer could probably get away with 75,000 words, but that might be pushing it. I know I’ve got more story to tell and these last few writing sessions have gone really well, almost effortless. But how long is that gonna last?

We’ll see. For now, I’m thrilled with my progress and I’m anxious to get back to it asap.
Hope your WIP is going well. What’s your biggest hangup with it right now?
